Words to Work into Everyday Life, Harry Breaks Records, My Challenge Accomplished, The Past Week7/15/2009 I always write these in the opposite order than the title says. So the week that has past. I haven’t done much besides read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Girl’s Night @ Abbey’s House, and Transformers 2. Well you’ll hear plenty more about the reason I read Harry again in a minute, so I’ll start with Girl’s Night. It included Abbey (obviously since it was her house), Katelyn, and myself. Paris was supposed to be there, but at last minute she wasn’t allowed. We watched movies, played Uno Attack, and ate at The Hot Dog Diner. Overall is was the second best night I’ve had all summer (See Fourth of July for First). Dad and I saw Transformers 2 on Friday. He described it today as “rubbish.” (There are many reasons why I write that on here tonight, read on to find out why.) He clearly didn’t like it. Go to the top of the page click the “Reviews” tab, go to movies, then click on “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” for my review.
Last Wednesday (July 8.) I decided that since there’s 7 days left until Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince hits theaters I should reread the book. I challenged myself to finish it before Midnight July 15 so I would be ready for when the movie came out that day. I accomplished my challenge at 11:56 PM. Just in time for my deadline. Pretty good timing if I say so myself. However, the reason I almost didn’t make it is because I couldn’t hold back the tears and I found it hard to turn that last page of Chapter 26. I did it though. And I’m very proud of myself. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince broke the Wednesday Midnight Premiere Record. Before today it was held by The Dark Knight with $18.5 million, now Harry holds the record with $22.2 million. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen only made $16 million on it’s Wednesday Midnight opening. This new record is bound to set up a new 5 day opening weekend record as well. We’ll have to wait until Monday to see if Harry can bring in another record breaking weekend. While reading Harry Potter on Sunday night I was texing Abbey and she brought up how now that she’s been reading Harry so much, there are words she would love to bring into her everday life. And I had to agree. Words such as “rubbish,” “snogging,” “mad,” and “blimey” would be wonderful in our everyday life. Then I said how “snog” reminds of noses and a strange gurgling sound. Abbey threw in egg nog and I had a brilliant idea. (Oh, look… “brilliant” is another one of those Potter words.) Then dad said “rubbish” today and I was very tempted to start laughing. It was a good day. Hopefully I’ll be sitting in a theater with popcorn and a sody-pop watching Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Goodnight and keep coming back for updates. And remember: I’m Jackie and I don’t know crap.
