Last night I started with Saturday Night Live so I might as well start today with it. Justin Timberlake was hilarious as expected. Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake collaborated once more for a Part 2 to a previous digital short. However, my favorite was the skit that came before that collaboration. It takes place in 1883 on a boat’s voyage to Ellis Island. You can view it here:
Saturday Night Live – Immigrant Tale Justin Timberlake is not the surprise I was referring to. My favorite non-Justin moment took place in the Weekend Update. Seth Meyers started the story off by saying “The new ‘Star Trek’ movie opened worldwide with an ad campaign that promises ‘This is not your father’s ‘Star Trek’.’ You can view the story here: Saturday Night Live – Update Feature: Star Trek When Seth said “Here to address those fans: The ‘Star Trek’ Cast!” I thought he was lying and the cast of SNL was going to impersonate Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine the way Abby Elliot impersonates Angelina Jolie. I was freaking out when they actually slid out into the newsroom. Saturday Night Live has out-done themselves, and I was very thrilled with their surprise. Well the ad campaign was correct; ‘Star Trek’ was not my dad’s ‘Star Trek.’ Dad and I watched ‘Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan’ last night so I would be familiar with what was going on in the new movie. There were details that I’ve always known though, such as Kirk is a womanizer. ‘Star Trek’ was the first Summer Movie to get an A- of the season, but it was also only the second summer movie to come out. It will also probably be one of the few movies to get an A- this season. When the movie review page is up expect a good review from me. That brings me to my next topic: The JDKC news update for the day. The movie review page has not been set up yet. Hopefully, by the time I go to Boston it will on and once I get back I’ll start adding reviews. I guess we all have to be patient a little bit longer. Now onto a topic that I haven’t touched in almost two months: Twilight. I really do hate seeing ‘Twilight’ quotes all over myspace. They’re in people’s status updates, bulletin subject titles, profiles, etc. It’s really sickening. I’ve only seen the movie twice. That’s probably a million times less than everyone else in the world. It’s just a movie, there’s no need to make it your life. If you make a movie, book, or fictional character your entire life, you will/should be considered for an asylum. And I’m being serious. I admit that when I read (past) ‘Twilight’ it made me smile, it cheered me up, but that’s because it’s one of those feel good books that makes you feel good. I just can’t believe people are making it their life and quoting it every chance they get. I guess that’s all for tonight. Keep reading and remember I’m Jackie and I don’t know crap.
