thoughts about ish
Well, it seems to have been awhile.
Let’s start with actual school. I’ve gotten into three colleges so far! Baldwin-Wallace, Toledo, and John Carroll. It’s always really exciting to see a new BIG envelope in the mail. I’m still waiting on five more schools and I won’t know about Miami until February 1st. I also anxiously await the arrival of letters from Ohio State and Dayton. Once midterms are done and I have most of my letters I’ll be attending my school visits. Real classes are starting to kill me. Well, only physics I guess. Does anyone remember me telling them I wanted to be forensic scientist? No? Good, I’m glad I never let dad bet me on that one. I really like Hamlet so far. I should be reading Brave New World right now, but I’m trying to finish Fallout first (it’s fantastic; Ellen Hopkins is a fiction-writing goddess). Our student teacher, Mr. Reynolds, left a couple days after my birthday. There was a party. I also got a B on the last test. BOMB! I was so excited. (Wouldn’t you be too if you normally got Cs on tests?) I’m still not taking the AP test in May, but it makes me feel better. Math, somehow, I have an A. So this quarter isn’t too bad. (Besides a C in Physics.) Work. Let me tell you, Marc’s certainly knows how to take away your personal life. Sometimes I like it, but is it necessary for me to be the one in the office more than ½ the month? There are three of us you know. I’m not complaining, I’m just saying I would like a little more free time. I am still in high school. Boys. Will be boys. I’m not waiting around for anyone. Birthday! 18! Awesome! There was a threat of a snow day, but for the first time ever I wanted to go to school. I had a super cute (maybe a little skanky) outfit to wear. I was going to school! It may have been blizzarding when I woke up, but we still had school. It was a really good day. I waited for Katelyn and Abbey to come back to Viscom but they were late. I got home and Dad told me had been waiting ALL day for me to come home. I wanted my cards. The one from Uncle Frank was hard to read. Not because he has bad handwriting or anything, but it was sentimental. I don’t handle sentimental very well and I started to cry as soon as I started to read it. Then it was time for Dad’s card/gift combo. I’ll first tell you I didn’t actually ask for anything, I really didn’t want anything. Anyway, my dad never does wordy cards. He buys the “straight-to-the-point-sometimes-funny” cards. Not this time. Not for MY 18th birthday. Needless to say, he got me to cry too. But then not 20 seconds later had me jumping for joy. I tore off the wrapping paper that was shielding me from my brand new toy. An amazonkindle. Yes, I now own a brand new amazonkindle to store all my books and something to fuel my passion of reading. I haven’t put it down for two weeks. We also went to Longhorn Steakhouse, which I thought was pretty good. Books. Currently I’m reading Fallout (I already told you that), but I’m also in the middle of the fourth Percy Jackson book (soo good!), reading Hamlet in English (as a class), and I have to have Brave New World read by January 7th. Good thing I like to read so much! That’s all for now. I’ll have another post up when I finish Fallout (tomorrow? Friday?) and then once again when we get back to school. Check back soon and check the reviews. As always, I’m Jackie and I don’t know crap.
