At what point do I just create a whole page specifically for the Corona Chronicles? Like, if this goes on for the rest of the year we are gonna get to "issue 50" and that'll be a really cool feat - do I wait until then to move all of these to that page? Or is that going to be too much work? I'm gonna need to start posting some more original content to break up the misery of the Corona Chronicles. Especially since today I literally wrote a nonsense post about the book I'm reading. I RAN OUT OF THINGS TO TELL THE KIDS AND I STARED AT MY DOCUMENT FOR AN HOUR.... An hour before I was just like "You know what? Fuck it... I'll write about the book I'm reading in the most vague way possible." If I was them I would stop reading today if they haven't already. Today was not my day. Wednesday, April 8, 2019:
I have no idea what to write today… So I’ll tell you about the book I just started reading. First, let me tell you I finished reading Anna Kendrick’s Scrappy Little Nobody the other day and loved it - the amount of laughs I had while reading it was unexpected. Therefore, with my current book, I am going in a whole new direction: HORROR. I love scary movies so I figured I’d try out a scary book. I started The Haunting of Hill House on Monday night. If you’re a fan of Netflix you might have seen the Netflix series by the same name. I never watched the show, but my sister did and she liked it, so I decided this was a good time to start the book. It’s not very long. Maybe 200 pages. But it’s a slow starter. I’m not very far into it after just two days of reading because the first 20 pages have just been introduction and nothing interesting has happened yet. One of the characters only just got to Hill House, so maybe tonight when I read it something interesting will happen. Like I said, I’ve never seen the show so I have no idea what I’m in for. *Don’t spoil it for me if you’ve already seen it!* I hope you all had a better Wednesday than I did with better things to write about! I don't know why I'm a teacher. I couldn't even sell a book to a bunch of 7th graders. I'm trying not to be an English teacher, but like that's what I really am and Social Studies is just like a side hobby at this point because I am learning so much and what I should be doing.... BTW next year, no matter where I am teaching, I will be attempting Self-Paced Learning and Standards Based Grading because if there's anything I've learned during the quarantine (besides how to plan my days when I'm not using a freaking planner) is that points are all made up and students can learn better when you give them freedom and don't overwhelm them. I'm working on my answers for interview questions while I look for a new teaching gig. It's really awful. Anyway, thanks for reading and hopefully enjoying this. I know I am. xo, jax.
